Ioan Gruffudd was born on October 6th 1973 in Cardiff, Wales. He made his acting debut aged just fourteen in the Welsh Soap Opera, People of the Valley.
In 1991 he studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). and his first significant role came five years later in the television film, Poldark (1996).
Ion followed this up with small roles in Titanic (1997) and Wilde (1997) before taking on the role that would send his career soaring, that of Horatio Hornblower in the 1998 ITV production of the famous sea captain story.
Over the next few years Ioan would make several appearances as the swashbuckling hero whilst at the same time improving his movie CV with films such 102 Dalmatians (2000), Black Hawk Down (2001) and King Arthur (2004)
In 2005 he was chosen to play Reed Richards in the comic book movie Fantastic Four (2005). The film was a box office success and Ioan has recently signed on for the two forthcoming sequels.
