Colchester, England. He had a real interested in entertainment from a young age, and as a result chose to study Media and Television at Middlesex University.
After graduating, he quickly earned a small slot as a DJ with BBC Radio Essex. He then found work as a television runner, and after learning the ropes, began putting himself forward for jobs in front of the camera.
It wasn't long before Dermot's talent and energy were recognized by television executives, and in 1998 he became one of the new presenters on Channel 4's entertainment show T4. In 1999 Dermot also became the host of The Bigger Breakfast.
In 2001, Dermot was given the job of presenting Big Brother's Little Brother, and he's been hosting the popular Big Brother show ever since.
In September 2004, Dermot joined BBC Radio 2 presenting a Saturday afternoon show entitled Dermot's Saturday Club. In September 2005, he took over the Saturday evening show for the widely listened to radio station.
