His screen debut came in 1992 in the movie The Power of One where he played Sergeant Botha. In the years that followed, he made appearances on popular UK television series Between the Lines (1993) Sharpe's Eagle (1993) and Heartbeat (1994).
His big break came in 1996 when he was cast in the critically acclaimed BBC series Our Friends in the North. His impressive performance as Geordie Peacock led to substantial film roles in movies such as Elizabeth (1998), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Road to Perdition (2002).
In 2004 Daniel gave a memorable performance as the sharp suited criminal in the British movie Layer Cake. The producers of James Bond were impressed with Daniel's screen presence and duly chose him as the latest incarnation of 007. Daniel's first Bond outing will be Casino Royale to be released later this year.
