Colin Firth

Colin Firth was born on September 10th 1960 in Hampshire, England. He spent his early childhood in Nigeria, before returning to Britain with dreams of becoming an actor.

After school. he spent two years at the Drama Centre in Chalk Farm. Whilst on stage as Hamlet, he was spotted by a theatre executive and Colin was suddenly on his way to the West End.

He made his London stage debut in the spy drama Another Country. The successful play was made into a film in 1984, giving Colin his first taste of the movies.

In 1989 his portrayal of Robert Lawrence in the television production Tumbledown (1989) was rewarded with the Royal Television Society Best Actor award as well as a BAFTA nomination.

In 1995, he was cast in the role that would define his career - Mr. Darcy in the 1995 television version of Pride and Prejudice. His wonderful performance as the famous Jane Austin character turned Colin from just another actor into a genuine star and sex symbol.

Since then, Colin has appeared in numerous popular movies including Fever Pitch (1997), Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) and Love Actually (2003). He has firmly established himself as one of the finest actors of his generation.
